JULIE R. GLADE: My background as a mental healthcare provider really assists me in helping parties communicate with each other in such a way that we can reach a resolution in an amicable fashion. Mediation allows parties to sit at a table together without the acrimony, without the mudslinging, without the unnecessary stress and anxiety. People who are encountering a divorce process typically have a lot of high emotions, including a sense of loss, a sense of betrayal, sometimes a sense of anger. Coming to mediation allows parties to discuss those feelings in an effective manner and come to find a resolution quickly and without the stress and anxiety that typically accompanies litigation. Many times, discussing the issues in mediation allows parties to leave the process with a sense of closer and acceptance that many times litigation can complete destroy.
